I have the honour to request this my application for the post of Deputy Harbour Master be forwarded to Government and would in any case offer my services as Temporary or Acting Deputy Harbour Master or Assistant Harbour Master if
such were immediately required and it was found possible to second me from my duties as Land Surveyor in the Public Works Department.
Records of service and copies of testimonials etc. are attached on separate sheet.
My qualifications for the post are briefly as follows:- Age 42.
Naval Rank: Lieutenant Commander R.N., retired
Naval Service: 1909 to 1920 as Cadet, Midshipman,
Sub-Lieutenant and Lieutenant R.N.
Hydrographical Surveying experience both in H.M. Navy and as Hong Kong Harbour Surveyor in connection with the
complete survey and subsequent extensive dredging of Hong Kong
Harbour 1931 1936.

Merchant Service Rank: Holder of Board of Trade
Certificate of Competency as Master for Foreign Going Steamships No.0014726 obtained by examination at Southampton on the 11th April, 1921.
Various merchant service voyages as master and mate.
Salvage experience as master of Messrs. Falmouth Docks
and Engineering Company's salvage vessels on home and foreign
voyages.
Eleven years employment by the Hong Kong Government 1928
to 1938 inclusive, the major portion of this period being with the Port Works Office, Public Works Department.
